What is ACLS Certification?

The American Heart Association (AHA) defines Advanced Cardiac Life Support as an algorithmic series of medical procedures and techniques designed for the urgent treatment of cardiac arrest, stroke and similar life threatening cardiac emergencies.

Advanced Cardiac Life Support or ACLS, expands upon basic life support with more advanced skills such as defibrillation, IV use, intubation, and ECG analysis. Many hospitals and other medical facilities require this advanced training for anyone who may be working with cardiac patients.

Who should receive ACLS Certification?

ACLS certification and training greatly increases the ability of medical professionals to save lives, so it can be useful for any healthcare profession. Typically, ACLS provider cards are required of licensed nurses, physicians and professionals who work under the supervision of a licensed physician, like paramedics or physician assistants. Professionals who work in intensive care units, emergency rooms, and other medical emergency settings may also required certification. Often, the decision about who is required to become certified is left to employers.

What is recertification and when is it necessary?

ACLS certification is not a lifetime pass. Like most medical certifications, you must remain current on changing guidelines and procedures. Certification usually expires within two years. This is especially true for Advanced Cardiac Life Support due to the hands-on method and technical knowledge involved. Our recertification makes sure you are up-to-date with any new procedures and helps build on the skills and training you have already received.

What is the difference between online and classroom training?

The demands placed on today’s healthcare professionals seems to be continually growing - long hours, challenging shifts, increasing responsibilities, more documentation. All of which makes your free time even more valuable. And while no one disagrees with the necessity of continuing education and training requirements, AMC believes just as strongly that healthcare providers like you shouldn’t have to sacrifice your valuable free time to attend weekend classes that cost a fortune.

That’s why AMC developed a highly advanced curriculum of online certification courses. All of our courses, training materials and exams are constructed in accordance with the AHA’s standards and guidelines. Our online courses duplicate the classroom lessons, with one major difference: You can take the classes on your schedule and at the location of your choosing. No more valuable free time and weekend spent in classrooms.

AMC's Online ACLS Courses

With AMC, you can be assured that our online certification and recertification courses deliver the same quality standards as classroom training, but with the added benefit of convenience.
