What is ACLS Certification?

The American Heart Association (AHA) defines Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) as an algorithmic series of medical procedures and techniques designed for the urgent treatment of cardiac arrest, stroke and similar life threatening cardiac emergencies.

ACLS expands upon basic life support with more advanced skills such as defibrillation, IV use, intubation, and ECG analysis. Many hospitals and other medical facilities require this advanced training for anyone who may be working with cardiac patients.

Who should receive ACLS Certification?

ACLS certification and training greatly increases the ability of medical professionals to save lives, so it is useful for any healthcare profession. Typically, ACLS provider cards are required of licensed nurses, physicians and professionals who work under the supervision of licensed physicians, like paramedics or physician assistants. Professionals who work in intensive care units, emergency rooms and other medical emergency settings may also require certification. Often, the decision about whether a certification is required is left to employers.

What is recertification and when is it necessary?

ACLS certification is not a lifetime pass. Like most medical certifications, you must remain current on changing guidelines and procedures. Certifications are usually valid for two years. This is especially true of ACLS due to the hands-on method and technical knowledge involved. Our recertification ensures that you are up-to-date with any new procedures and helps build on the skills and training you have already have.

What is the difference between online and classroom training?

The highly developed and advanced curriculum of online certification courses that we offer are constructed in accordance with the AHA’s standards and guidelines. Our online courses duplicate the classroom lessons, with one major difference, you can take the classes on your schedule and at the location of your choosing. No more valuable free time and weekends spent in classrooms.

With AMC, you can be assured that our online certification and recertification courses deliver the same quality standards as classroom training but with the added benefit of convenience and the gift of time. Our online courses include thorough study guides with no additional training materials required. Instead of traveling and waiting through a typical renewal class, you can review and renew at your own pace at a time that fits your schedule.

Additionally, we don’t eliminate the human touch just because you’re taking the course online. Our team of friendly and knowledgeable support staff are available seven days a week, via live chat, email, or phone for anything you need.
